Take a Spring Break

We all know Spring Break time … from the middle of March to the beginning of April. I feel like you cannot escape Spring Break; whether it is photos popping up on your friends Facebook pages of their recent travels, hearing from your sister that half her office is still out on vacation or walking around Minnesota in the beginning of April and realizing that people are ridiculously tan for this time of year.

All of this got me, a pale non-vacationer, thinking about how necessary it is for everyone to relax and take a break. Whether it’s traveling, hitting the driving range for a few hours, going to the spa or simply sitting and reading a book, it doesn’t matter what you do but taking the time to actually do things that is important. Feeling guilty about taking a break? As I was perusing the internet, I came across tons of websites talking about the benefits of vacationing, taking breaks, and relaxing. These benefits range from living longer and improving your mental health to revamping relationships, being more productive upon your return back to reality and simply keeping yourself happy. All of these benefits sound like pretty good reasons to convince myself that the pedicure I just got and the trip I took to Mall of America last week were completely necessary. :)

As I continue along with my daily routines of school and work I am going to remember that taking breaks and mixing up daily routines is important. I hope you all take the time to do something for yourself this spring as well.

A special note for those of you who say you simply don’t have time for breaks, vacations and relaxation; remember the words of Milton Berle “Laughter is an instant vacation.”
