A 5-Year Old's Perspective
Blog Image

I spent the weekend with my 5-year old niece … and if you do not have children of your own, or they’re grown … I suggest you do the same very soon.

The 5-year old perspective is wonderful.  There’s no worry or concern about the typical adult “problems” like mortgage payments or preparation for an upcoming meeting.  The most important things this weekend came down to what color sprinkles we’d have on our ice cream and should we use yarn or ribbons to play with the cat.  It was wonderfully simple, where sliced bananas became a funny face on our cereal, blowing bubbles in our milk with a straw caused us to collapse in giggles, and a sweet little angel fell asleep with her head on my shoulder.  I didn’t think about work, presentations, or upcoming programs all weekend and it was wonderful and relaxing.

So, the next time I’m feeling stressed I’m going home to put sprinkles on ice cream, and remember the wisdom that a  5-year old showed me about what’s important in life.
