My First Marathon
Blog Image

I recently ran the St. Jude Memphis Marathon with my oldest son Sean.  It was my first marathon and Sean’s second.  Since I am a very slow runner, our stated goal was 5:45:00, but we were looking for a 5:30:00 pace.

Before the race, I did a lot of reading, and developed what I thought was a good training program.

My wife, who has run 13 marathons, offered to develop my training schedule; however, I opted to use my timetable.

The race went according to plan up to mile 21.  We were 4 minutes ahead of schedule, and with the last five miles downhill, were looking at a 5:30:00 finish.  That is until I developed severe hamstring cramps, first in one leg then the other.  We finished the marathon with a time of 5:44:31.

As I look back on the experience, I acted in a similar fashion as a number of my potential customers act towards their meetings.  They rely on outdated formats to run their meetings rather than consider the advice and guidance of the experts at Equinox Creative.

They don’t develop physical cramps; however, they do fail to attain the goal of insuring that the message of the meeting coincides with the strategic goals of the company.

Yes, I plan to run more marathons; and yes, I will have my wife, who just completed #14 at Disney, plan my training schedule.

Comments Just wanted to write the first thought that came to mind.
I think that if you have a blog, then it is what you need. Tell people about something, someone is advertising, to somebody else for something else. Personally, I think so. Here I have a blog about my travels, but I can not share them with people, because somebody would write that this is spam. A hoster will also kick :)
